Reasoning with belief functions over Belnap–Dunn logic

چکیده
We design an expansion of Belnap–Dunn logic with belief and plausibility functions that allows non-trivial reasoning contradictory incomplete probabilistic information. also formalise non-standard probabilities in two ways. First, using a calculus linear inequalities, akin to the one presented [23]. Second, as two-layered modal wherein evidence (the outer layer) utilises paraconsistent expansions Łukasiewicz logic. The second approach is inspired by [3]. prove completeness for both kinds calculi show their equivalence establishing faithful translations directions.

Evidential Reasoning with Conditional Belief Functions
In the existing evidential networks with belief functions, the relations among the variables are always represented by joint belief functions on the product space of the involved variables. In this paper, we use conditional belief functions to represent such relations in the network and show some relations of these two kinds of representations. We also present a propagation algorithm for such n...
متن کاملBelief functions and default reasoning
We present a new approach to dealing with default information based on the theory of belief functions. Our semantic structures, inspired by Adams' ε-semantics, are epsilon-belief assignments, where values committed to focal elements are either close to 0 or close to 1. We define two systems based on these structures, and relate them to other nonmonotonic systems presented in the literature. We ...
متن کاملA Modal Logic for Reasoning about Belief
The purpose of this paper is to integrate a number of ideas from knowledge representation, with ideas from the semantics of progamming languagse, in a basic logical system for belief. A knowledge-based system can be considered as, in a simpliied way, an agent which, based on its current state of information, makes inference for purposes such as planning or taking an action that best suits the a...
متن کاملBelief Revision, Conditional Logic and Nonmonotonic Reasoning
We consider the connections between belief revision, conditional logic and nonmonotonic reasoning, using as a foundation the approach to theory change developed by Alchourrón, Gärdenfors and Makinson (the AGM approach). This is first generalized to allow the iteration of theory change operations to capture the dynamics of epistemic states according to a principle of minimal change of entrenchme...
متن کاملConsistency Reasoning in Neural-Logic Belief Networks
In this technical report, we argue that human belief can be contradictory and to maintain consistency for knowledge reasoning purposes, it is more natural to sort out connicting beliefs by their relative strengths similar to how they are handled by our commonsense. Based on this philosophy, two notions of logical consistency (general and strong) that are semantically weaker than classical logic...
